These are all some great tips. I’d also suggest, especially if you’re doing a lot of participating in conversations through blog commenting already, to check out the blogs you’re already reading. Watch to see if they have a guest post. Look to see if they have posted guidelines for guest posters. Both of these are indications that they are willing to accept guest posts.
Even if you don’t see these things, if you are participating and commenting on their blogs enough that the would at least recognize your name, you might use their contact form (or even contact them through social media links many of them already display if they don’t have a contact form) and ask. Pitch an idea for a guest post that you want to write (or have already written but not published anywhere) and ask if they’d be interested in using it as a guest post. Provide them with links to articles you’ve written (either as guest posts or on your own blog) as samples of your quality and style. You’ll never know if you don’t ask! (This one works best when you’re providing quality engagement in your commenting efforts.)

I’d also recommend, especially if you’re doing a lot of doing discussions through leaving comments on weblogs already, to examine out the weblogs you’re already studying. Observe to see if they have a visitor publish. Look to see if they have published recommendations for visitor images. Both of these are signs that they are willing to take visitor content.
